This Guy
My name is Bill Spencer, a passionate self-taught woodworker and furniture designerFrom a young age, I have had a deep fascination with design that has only grown stronger over the years.
Growing up, I submitted a drawing of a Corvette car to General Motors (in a kids design contest). This resulted in a GM rep coming to my house as a little kid. It shocked my parents.
Later my focus shifted to architecture and jazz. I loved making architectural drawings, and my best friend introduced me to jazz. I was hooked on both, and still share a deep appreciation for them both.
For me, it is all about design. The designs of Harry Bertoia , the Eames, Peter Superti, Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry, stand as inspiration to me. Their designs offer a collective permission to explore my own concepts of fine furniture. Amen to the fathers of design.
I worked for many years working alongside of, and regulating, architects as a city planner for the coastal cities of Los Angeles, Carpinteria, and my now adopted home of 35 years, Santa Barbara, CA.
My passion for architecture led me into the interior design element of furniture. I love working in the mid-century vernacular, with its’ clean lines, primary colors, and the quietness of minimalism.

I have a passion for architecture and jazz. Early on I made architectural drawings. At about the same time my best friend introduced me to jazz. I was hooked on both, and still share a deep appreciation for them both.
